Congklak (Mancala) is a traditional game that is popular in Indonesia. This game originated from the middle east region which spread to Africa and Asia through Arab traders. Coklak is thought to have existed since the 15-11 centuries BC. To play this game, a dhakon board and dakon seeds are needed. The dhakon board is a board that has 14 holes facing each other, and two large holes opposite each other. While Dakon seeds can come from shells, fruit seeds, gravel etc. The number of players in this game is two, cannot be less or more. Each player has the same opportunity at the start of the game.

Congklak games can be played by all children, both boys and girls. Gender equality is highly respected in this game. Not only can it be played by all genders, the game of Congklak can even be played between genders, men against women. Easy game steps that do not impact masculine or feminine attitudes are one of the supporting factors for gender equality in this game.

People who can play this game do not only come from middle to upper class families, people with low economies can also feel the excitement and benefits of this game. For people who are less fortunate to have a dakon board, it can be replaced by drawing on the ground, or using used items such as cardboard. While Dakon seeds can take advantage of gravel or used paper that is formed into small balls.

Even though using simple items, the children can still feel the fun and benefits of playing congklak. Even children who take advantage of these objects are able to increase creativity in solving problems.
